Teri Greenbaum, President of LA College Consulting, is an Educational Consultant specializing in private undergraduate college admissions counseling on the west side of Los Angeles where she has lived for the past twenty-six years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from the Auburn University School of Education, a Master of Education from Georgia State University and is a graduate of the UCLA College Admissions Counseling Program. Teri's initial career began teaching students in Atlanta, Georgia. She then transitioned into the business world and worked in real estate lending for Citi Mortgage in Atlanta and after moving to Los Angeles, worked as a loan officer for Western Federal Savings and Loan in Marina Del Rey. After raising her children and spending numerous volunteer hours in their respective schools, she returned to her original passion, education, and founded LA College Consulting.

Teri understands the challenges families face in trying to navigate the college admissions landscape, especially when there are special circumstances. Her children attended several different private and public high schools in Los Angeles including Harvard-Westlake School, Campbell Hall, Crossroads, Palisades High School. One child was home schooled using the Laurel Springs Distance Learning curriculum. Each had varying interests and challenges, ranging from a college-bound student-athlete to a student with a focus in the visual arts, as well as a child challenged with a chronic medical condition, ADD, and learning disabilities. Teri understands first hand the importance of finding the right match for each individual student, those that have special talents as well as those that have unique challenges. The hallmark of LA College Consulting is identifying colleges that provide the appropriate environment, opportunities, and support systems where the student can reach her potential and experience great success in college.

Teri is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Western Association for College Admission Counseling (WACAC), and the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). She attends regional and national conferences every year to stay up-to-date with current trends in college admissions and visits colleges all over the country on a regular basis. She volunteers at CHAMPS Charter High School of the Arts in Van Nuys in their college counseling office. In April 2010 Teri was interviewed by Patt Morrison on 89.3 KPCC-FM, an NPR affiliate, along with Susan Wilbur, the Director of Undergraduate Admissions for the UC's, and Katherine Harrington, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid for USC, regarding the current state of college admissions.

Teri’s ability to develop a strong connection with her students combined with her organizational skills and knowledge of the college admissions process make her an excellent choice to work with your family.

"Coming from a school with a graduating class of only seventy-two students, I was ill-prepared for the college process. Teri helped me find colleges that had the type of education, location, and resources that would help me reach my future goals of becoming a doctor. Teri not only takes into account where you want to go but also encourages you to find the place where you will strive and excel."

“As a single father of a high school senior, I was grateful to have Teri help my son wend his way through the college process. From initial discussions about school choices, to gently prodding him to rewrite his essay one more time, to addressing the transcript envelopes, Teri did it all. In a very calm and nurturing way. Of the twelve schools my son applied to, he was accepted into eight. And he is very happy with his final selection at UCSD.”

“Teri was extremely helpful to me during the college application process. She was honest with me about my chances of getting into specfic schools. She also helped me write and edit my application essays. It’s great to have someone walk you through the process and be available to answer any questions you may have. She gave me so many useful tips; I simply could not have gotten into my top choice school if it weren't for her.

“Thank you so much for all of the incredible help you gave me during my dark hours of torturous college applications. I am headed off to USC in the fall, and the only reason I am is because of the efficiency and timeliness of my applications. I can't thank you enough for helping me! My applications made me lose a considerable amount of my mind, and the only part of it I have left is there because of the support you provided. Thank you so much.  You are supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.”
